EDTEK maintains a broad capability for assembly and fabrication of prototype and pilot production devices including photovoltaic cells, interconnected arrays of photovoltaic cells, electronic circuits, mechanical and vacuum test setups and equipment.

PHOTOVOLTAIC CELL FABRICATION AND ASSEMBLY

EDTEK has equipment and expertise for carrying photovoltaic cells from the processed wafer stage to customer-ready interconnected arrays. A typical process is depicted below:

Cell Wafer

First, the wafers are scribed and divided into individual cells.

Cell Bonding

Photovoltaic cells are then bonded onto substrates and interconnected into arrays using several techniques which include parallel gap welding, ultrasonic ribbon bonding, and solder reflow.

Cell Array

The final product is a photovoltaic array ready for application. Photovoltaic arrays can be fabricated to accommodate different geometric requirements.
